The recording of respiratory sounds is useful to relate the sounds being reported by the owner or trainer with dynamic events occurring within the airway.

This can be performed using a microphone placed in front of the horse's nostrils, either within a mask or attached to the bridle. Often respiratory sounds are measured concurrently with the videoendoscopy recording.
